Everyone has a different definition of the phrase “Common Good” but to me it means “to bring a change”. In understanding the purpose of life, I have drawn a conclusion that we are here to make a change.
Last year I taught some juniors and received a lot from that teaching experience. I learned that in order for students to understand the theories in a better way and to keep their interest in lessons, I needed to be an inspiring teacher. I started to integrate humor and discussion, and at times told them stories of my own experiences as a junior. The class was no longer mundane, where the students waited anxiously for the recess bell to ring. It was rather an engaging experience for both my students and I. We shared good and bad experiences ranging from mobile phone bills to allowance issues, while learning how to apply all the theoretical accounting techniques.
As American President Woodrow T. Wilson rightly says:
' There is no higher religion than human service. To work for the common good is the greatest creed. '
We should plan to participate in any opportunity where we can help to bring a change in any and every community.
We cannot afford to wait for someone else to help us. Everyone has to do their part – we can bring together people of good will and good common sense to play their parts. According to my belief this duty is not mine, not yours, not theirs but ours and we have to stand for it!
